0Photographers on Google+ band together to create a beautiful book for charity
The press around Google’s new attempt at creating a new social network has for the most part been less than glowing with the majority of tech pundits expressing the feeling that if it isn’t dead yet it will soon be talking a slow walk to the deadpool.
Personally I am a very big fan of Google+ and use it far more than Facebook and even more than Twitter and from my experience so far Google+ is very far from being dead or in the need for swimming lessons.
The one other part about the network that you see people complain about is the amount of photographs that get posted to the network from not just like people like me who share stuff that they find but also a very large contingent of professional, and excellent hobbiests, photographers.
However some of those photographers have joined together and created a book titled ‘Plus One Collection‘ that is a collection of some of the best photographs to grace the time streams of Google+ and even better the proceeds from the sale of the book are going to charity.
There are over 520 photographers taking part in the project and are donating their photographs that is being combined in a standard book, and e-book, a limited edition version, and soon an iOS app. The member’s explanation of the project is this:
The idea is simple.
We, a group of photographers from an online community on social network Google+ thought, hey, why not publish a photography book together? We spent a lot of time talking photography online, share and look at each other’s work, and even meet together to socialize and shoot. Why not collaborate on a project together? That’s how the idea of this book was born. When the call to contribute came, 520 photographers, both known and less known, from all over the world responded, willing to donate their art for the project.
If this is a project you can get behind head over to their site and place your order for book and if you are really feeling flush you can order the limited edition version for $200.
