0Teens Launch Lego Man Into Space, Capture All The Action [Video]
Two teenagers in Toronto, Ontario have managed to launch the iconic Lego Man into space, 14 miles above sea level to be exact.
Matthew Ho and Asad Muhammad accomplished their goal by attaching the Lego Man to a weather balloon and then releasing him for a 97-minute flight that eventually ended in a parachute touchdown 62 miles away from where the Lego Man took off.
To find the landed Lego Man the teens who had captured the flight by means of camcorder tracked its location by way of GPS.
Ho says of the Lego Man’s journey:
“People would walk into the house and see us building this fantastical thing with a parachute from scratch, and they would be like, ‘What are you doing? We’d be like, ‘We’re sending cameras to space.’ They’d be like, ‘Oh, okayyyyy.'”
It’s pretty cool footage but I would have much rather liked to witness the teens launching the Lego Man by way of rocket.
