Frying Computers With Microwaves Thanks To Boeing’s Phantom Works Missile

One of the holy grails for the military has been having the ability to successfully attack a foreign force but without destroying buildings or killing anyone and now thanks to Boeing’s Phantom Works division they may be one step closer to achieving that goal.

In recent tests a early version of the Counter-electronics High-powered Microwave Advanced Missile (CHAMP) successfully knocked out rows of personal computers and electrical systems as it flew over a two story building. Turns out the missile performed very well as it succeed in hitting all seven of its targets in the test.

As program manager Keith Coleman said “Today, we made science fiction science fact” and at the same time proved that they now have a legitimate non-lethal weapon that is capable of defeating electronic targets with no collateral damage.
