0Act Of Childbirth Caught Using An MRI [Video]
It’s one thing to be a silly geek and record the actual birth of your child on video; and potentially suffer the wrath of your wife, but it is something else again when scientists capture childbirth using some of the most sophisticated imaging equipment in a hospital but that is exactly what the doctors at Charité University Hospital in Berlin did in 2010.
The team had to develop new fetal monitoring equipment that could withstand the magnetic fields in the MRI but they managed to create the following video by joining the repeated images taken of the woman’s body by the MRI. The technique is called cinematic MRI and while it isn’t a filming technique that you’ll find James Cameron using anytime soon it was created to help improve techniques used during labor and delivery.
This is pretty cool, except for the eyes. The eyes.
