0Facebook Rolling Out Timeline For All, Do a Quick Drunk Pics Scan!
You’ve probably seen Facebook’s Timeline by now if you haven’t gotten it already, and it’s pretty impressive- in both visual presentation and scope.
It allows you to add certain life events, and re-arranges the way such events appear on your timeline. So when my profile updated to Timeline a few weeks back, it automatically aggregated my sister’s birthday as a significant life event. It does the same to relationships, and it allows for adding events like buying a house, having a baby and even getting a tattoo or piercing. (Since I tend to hide my more personal milestones, I added my single bit of ink to test the tagging and photo display when my Timeline went active.)
As with any changes to “the Facebook,” user reaction has been mixed- some users adore the dynamic presentation of Timeline, while others lament the “old style” and have freaked out about the reappearance of past events, comments and friendships now displayed prominently on their page. But whether you like it or not, the service revealed that soon, all Facebook users will be required to switch over to Timeline.
So what does this mean for your Facebook profile? If you’ve already switched to Timeline, obviously nothing. If you have not, you’ve got seven days to scan the Timeline and see what a noob you were when you first signed up for the service. No exact date has been disclosed for universal Timeline rollout, but it’s definitely coming- so you might want to start vetting now before it sneaks up on you.
Do you have Timeline activated on Facebook yet? What do you think about the new features?
