0Bath Salts Turning People Into Psychotic Zombies, News Proclaims
After the horrifying face-eating attack in Florida over the weekend, a single question was on the lips of many who read of the disturbing tale- aside from “honey, how many days worth of canned goods and ammo do we have?”- concerned what could possibly prompt a man to not only chew off another man’s face, but also continue to do so after being shot by a police officer.
The attacker in the face-chewing attack ultimately succumbed to the second bullet fired by police, and the bizarre incident captured the nation’s interest. And as for what prompted the attack, it’s theorized that the new, scary-drug-of-the-moment, bath salts, may be responsible for the attacker’s apparent psychosis.
Addiction specialist Dr. Ravi Chandiramani confirmed to an Arizona news source that bath salts have indeed induced psychosis, but it is unclear what leads police to believe that the unregulated substance is indeed responsible for the incident. Chandiramani explains:
“Everyone thinks they can get away with it because you can’t test for it on drug tests, but what we’re seeing is that it’s indeed very, very dangerous for our kids. The side effects can be similar to cocaine and meth, and many have been reported, including paranoia, hallucinations, heart palpitations, seizures, kidney failure and even death.”
It is not known whether toxicology results in the face-eating case will be made public.
