0Scientists Discover First-Ever Adult Age White Killer Whale [Video]
Scientists working off the coast of Kamchatka believe they have discovered the first ever adult white killer whale.
White orcas have been caught on video in the past but all of those creatures were young specimens while adult white whales have eluded researchers for years.
According to one researcher:
“This is the first time we’ve seen a mature adult.”
The sea creature has been nicknamed “Iceberg” and on the captured video he can be seen swimming next to regular colored killer whales.
Researchers are still not sure why some killer whales are born white and they are considering the possibility of taking a biopsy from Iceberg if for whatever reason a conservation reason to do so if found.
In the meantime researchers are hoping for the chance to view Iceberg up close on more occasions. Here’s Iceberg swimming through the ocean:
