Dick Clark, Host Of American Bandstand, Passes Away At 82





For those of you old enough to remember the once very famous television music show American Bandstand and remember a time before Ryan Seacrest hosted New Year Eve in Time Square the name Dick Clark will bring back many memories.

For a man who never seem to age the announcement by his publicist Paul Sherfin that dick Clark had passed away today from a massive heart attack came a bit of a shock. He was 82, and it was eighty-two years filled with all kinds of memorable moments.

From 1952 to 1987, American Bandstand was hosted by Dick Clark, starting first on the radio in Philadelphia and then later on national television. By the show’s 30th anniversary almost 600,000 teenagers and 10,000 performers had appeared on  thew show, which was considered for years to be the hit maker by the music industry.

Then in 1972 Dick Clark once again broke the mold that had existed for years when it came to celebrating New Year’s Eve when at time when it was all Guy Lombardo playing the same old songs at the Waldorf-Astoria Clark’s New Year’s Eve show starred Three Dog Night, Helen Reddy, Al Green, and Blood, Sweat and Tears.
