0Pinterest Now The Third Most Visited Social Site
Pinterest’s skyrocketing growth has been of interest to those in the social media realm, and it appears that the site has dug in its heels as a major contender among social sites.
In just a few short months, Pinterest has gone from an unknown site with a mostly-unrecognized function to a massive trend, with Facebook integration alongside the new Timeline feature boosting the service’s popularity among users of the social network. And the growth of Pinterest has been quite studied and is measurable- the service is now the third most-popular social network (with 104 million visits), bested only by big shots Facebook (7 billion visitors per month) and Twitter (182 million visitors per month.)
Digital marketing firm Experian ranked the site’s position in theirĀ 2012 Digital Marketer: Benchmark and Trend Report, and Experian’s Matt Tatham commented to CNN:
“The site has really just rocketed… It’s just been tremendous since (Pinterest) took off around October and then in the last few months. With Pinterest, it’s kind of a new take on an old thing. Social networking is great. Pinterest is great. The way people are sharing on Pinterest is new.”
According to the news site, mobile visits (Pinterest has a popular iPhone app) were not counted in the overall traffic rankings.
