0Staten Island BullDog Takes A Bullet To The Head Saving Owner And Survives
If a dog could buy a lottery ticket it would be Kilo, a 12-year-old pit bull who should head to the nearest store and get a couple.
Last Saturday at around 5 PM a man posing as aas a FedEx deliveryman tried to push his way into the apartment of Justin Becker who lives on Lambert Street in Graniteville on Staten Island claiming he had a package.
At this point Becker pushed the man to the ground and pushed the apartment door into the body of the would be thug, and this is when Kilo got into the act but when the dog stuck his head out the door to get at the robber he was shot in the head. Apparently it was then that the would be robber ran away.
With little hope that Kilo would survive Becker picked him up rushed to the South Shore Animal Hospital to and save Kilo. The x-rays taken by the doctors showed that the bullet had entered Kilo’s head but never penetrated his skull. There was a lot of swelling but no fractures which amazed the doctors working on him.
The bullet amazingly ricocheted off Kilo’s skull and exited through his neck — sparing the dog from certain death.
“This is like, one in a million,” said Dr. Greg Panarello, whose veterinary clinic operated on Kilo. “He’s very lucky.”
The hospital’s staff was so impressed, they put a little “S” on his bandage — for “superhero.” Panarello called him “a really sweet dog.”
