0Allegiant Air Introduces $35 Carry-On Charge
Allegiant Air is now charging customers a $35 fee for their carry-on bags. The company announced the new fee which includes any items too large to fit under the customers seat in front of them but still small enough to fit in the overhead compartment.
Customers wishing to reduce the $35 fee can request carry-on costs by paying online for future flights. Online registration pushes the price per bag to fees ranging from $10 to $30.
Allegiant isn’t the first company to charge a carry-on fee, in 2010 Spirit Airlines began charging a $45 carry-on feet, a new regulation that earned the company $50 million in 2011.
While the carry-on fee has now reached two airlines one industry analyst tells MSNBC that major airlines are likely to steer clear of the feet. According to that analyst:
“No business-oriented airline would do this to customers with a laptop and valet bag … They would drive them right off the airplane.”
Will you stop flying Allegiant Air because of the airlines new $35 carry-on fee?
