0Weatherman Sues CBS For Sex Discrimination
Weatherman Kyle Hunter of San Diego has filed a lawsuit against CBS, claiming sex and age discrimination led to his lack of new employment.
Hunter currently works for Fox 5 but claims that he had hoped to jump over to KCBS or KCAL in Los Angeles, positions that were instead given to 20-something female reporters with little to no experience.
Hunter is seeking unspecified damages for being passed over, claiming that his meteorology degree and years of experience should have at least allowed for an interview. Instead both channels went with cute reports with no experience.
The weather forecaster says CBS wants young sexy women in weather spots to lure in male viewers.
CBS in the meantime calls the lawsuit “frivolous” and points out that they didn’t need to interview Hunter because there isĀ “no need for the stations to interview someone we were already well aware of.”
Do you think Hunter has a case or does the station have the right to hire whatever type of on-air personality they choose that fits with their programming goals?
