Patricia Heaton Apologizes For Rude Tweets to Sandra Fluke

patricia heaton apologizes to sandra fluke

Rush Limbaugh’s humble pie feast continues as more advertisers drop out despite his many apologies, but another celebrity has had to eat crow after getting on the loudmouth talk show host’s bandwagon in ragging on Sandra Fluke.

Fluke is the young woman excoriated by Limbaugh after she spoke publicly about the burden birth control costs place on young women. Limbaugh called her a “slut” and a “prostitute,” and in addition, seemed to demonstrate his lack of knowledge about how birth control works by appearing to suggest that the more sex you have, the more birth control pills you require. (One might think that if a man is married four times without fathering a child, he would have at least a modicum of understanding about how birth control pills function.)

Last week on Twitter, Heaton said in part:

“Hey G-Town Gal: Plz let us also pay for your Starbucks, movie theater tickets and your favorite hot wings combo deal at KFC! Anything else? …Hey G-Town Gal: If your parents have to pay for your birth control, maybe they should get a say in who you sleep with! Instant birth control!”

The actress then deleted her Twitter account before coming back and saying:

“Mea culpa Sandra! Wasn’t being respectful 2 u re my tweets as I hope people wd b w/me. Don’t like you being dissed -so sorry.”

Heaton apologized again, saying she “may not agree with [Fluke’s] views,” but that she is sorry for disrespecting the Georgetown student.
