The Construction of the Golden Gate Bridge in Pictures

Construction of San Fransisco’s Golden Gate Bridge began on January 5, 1933.
Costing $35 million to build, the bridge took 5 years to complete, with the subsequent cost of the lives of eleven workers.
The Golden Gate Bridge has been declared one of the modern Wonders of the World by the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Frommers travel guide considers the Golden Gate Bridge “possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world.”
