Brazilian Man Survives A Six Foot Rod Piercing His Skull

Okay fair warning on this story – it isn’t for those with a weak stomach but it definitely is a miraculous one especially for Brazilian construction worker Eduardo Leite.

I say miraculous because what other words can you use to tell how one can have a six-foot metal rod fall from the fifth floor of the building you are working on, have it go straight through not only your hard hat but your skull as well, and still be not only alive but awake feeling no pain as they wheel you into the hospital.

Doctor Luiz Aleandre Essinger at the Miguel Couto Hospital in Rio de Janeiro said that it is a very uncommon injury,

“It is a very uncommon injury this type of trauma, a steel rod that goes through the patient’s brain.

“It enters through the top of the head and goes out between the eyes. The fact that the patient arrived here lucid and talking is incredible.”

Amazingly Mr. Leite was able to speak, eat and move his arms and legs after the surgery to remove the rod.
