0Amercia.com Could Fetch $12,000, Will Help Send Shanghai Student To School In America
In 2009 Shanghai resident John Chen purchased the web domain Amercia.com for $100 and now he could turn that investment into upwards of $12,000. That’s because Mitt Romney’s own iPhone app recently misspelled America as Amercia.
Speaking to Mashable about his decision to buy the misspelled name Chen revealed:
“For us, Amercia is so near to America, and it makes us feel so close to the USA and it also reminds us that we must work hard to get near to our soul land.”
24 hours after Mitt Romney’s political flub John Chen began receiving sale inquiries, four of them to be exact and while appraisal site EstiBot.com currently has a valuation of $12,000 for the web property Chen says he would likely accept “something like” $6,000 or $7,000.”
While the spelling was an unfortunate mistake for team Romney it could actually benefit one person interested in coming to America, Chen says he would use the money from the sale to send his son to college in the United States. If his son can’t get into an American school perhaps they can apply somewhere in Amercia.
