0Mickey Shunick’s Bike Found Submerged in Lake With Tire Damage
The case of missing Louisiana college student Mickey Shunick got a worrying development this week with the discovery of the 22-year-old’s bicycle- which she was last seen riding before she vanished- in a lake some 30 miles from where she is thought to have disappeared.
No trace of Shunick has been found since she was seen last leaving a friend’s home on her bike at 2AM on May 19th. The student’s family began to worry when she failed to show at the graduation of her brother the following day, and in the week and a half since, family and friends of Mickey Shunick have been frantically searching for the young woman.
The search for Shunick was complicated by the fact that police were unable to obtain local area business surveillance tapes from the time she is believed to have been abducted due to the fact the suspected kidnapping occurred over a weekend. The submerged bicycle was located under a bridge about 30 miles from Lafayette, where Shunick studies.
Police say that they believe the area in which the bike was found has been searched sufficiently:
“We feel that we searched that area enough… We believe the perpetrator went beneath the bridge and dumped the bike.”
Michaela “Mickey” Shunick’s bike was located by fishermen fishing near the bridge.
