New Yorkers Finally Get To See Nissan Yellow Taxi Of Tomorrow

One of the things you see in just about every television show that uses New York as the backdrop is the famous yellow cabs that seem to outnumber every other vehicle on the streets of the city and for years they have remained the same but that is about to change.

It took a competition that took five years to declare the winner but in the end the NV200 from Nissan has walked away woth the brass ring on this one and at this year’s New York Auto Show city dwellers and taxi companies will finally be able to see more than just renderings of the future of cabs in the city.

There’s been more than a few comments about the overall look of the cab but when it comes to the interior most of the comments have been very positive. The new cab comes with: more room, a panoramic roof, airbags front and rear, more lighting, charging ports, climate control for those in the back seats, and an active carbon headliner to help deal with odors. This is just the start of the long list of changes made to a more modern taxi.

There is a version for diabled people being developed in conjunction with Braun.

These interior shots are just rendering but hopefully after the auto show we’ll have some real ones to look at.
