0Woman Shot When Man Confuses Her Haircut With A Bird
I realize that hairdos are a pretty big thing with women and that they can sport some pretty funky designs on their heads but getting shot over it isn’t something that I think that they would expect.
It seems that good old Darrill Rockwell was getting really tired of a bird that he thought was harassing his cats so when he thought he saw one early morning on a hilltop about 90 feet away he grabbed his .22-caliber rifle that he kept hand, to kill rodents around the house he told police, and took a shot at the bird.
While his intent was apparently to scare it away it didn’t move but instead he heard the moaning of a woman in pain. When he went to check it out he discovered a 23-year-old woman sporting a red mohawk hairdo who had been shot in the head.
“In 15 years in law enforcement, this was one of the more interesting cases I’ve worked,” Grand Junction Police Department detective Sean Crocker told the judge Friday. Rockwell, 49, was sentenced to serve five years probation after pleading guilty to felony possession of a weapon by a prior offender.
Rockwell was also ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution but it seems that the woman left Colorado shortly after the shooting.
