0Arnold Palmer, Golf Great, Hospitalized For Blood Pressure Issue at PGA Tour
Golf legend Arnold Palmer was taken to the hospital today and is being kept overnight as a precaution due to high blood pressure from a heart medication.
Palmer, 82, was forced to miss the scheduled PGA tour trophy presentation when 15 minutes before it was slated to start, his blood pressure was measured to be high. Palmer had been advised by docs to monitor his blood pressure at intervals each day after starting a new medication, and it was at one of the routine checks that it was noted his blood pressure had risen.
Palmer’s business manager Alaistair Johnston told the Washington Post:
“Nobody is overly concerned about the prognosis… It wasn’t anything to do with any ailments or any discomfort he felt. The blood pressure was at a level where the doctor involved suggested that he go immediately to get more intensive evaluation at the hospital.”
Palmer’s grandson Sam Saunders updated concerned fans on Twitter, saying his grandfather was expected to be released from the hospital Monday.
