[Video] Two-Year-Old Sings Adele, Experiences Same Crushing Emotions As You
While Adele’s music is certainly ubiquitous and approaching the levels of played-outness not seen since MTV got ahold of Soundgarten’s “Black Hole Sun” video back in 1994 (seriously, those barbequeing Barbies are still burned onto my retinas) the song “Someone Like You” did, at least for a brief and shining moment, make everyone feel the crushing sadness of every romantic disappointment all rolled up into one song seemingly penned exclusively for the act of falling into a box of Franzia and sobbing.
Saturday Night Live had a glimmer of relevance in skewering the ditty’s emotional relevance, but even if you haven’t experienced that particular brand of crushing disappointment (which for women, seems to be getting passed over for the “wife” promotion), somehow it was like you did. Adele’s pain also represented to millions of chubby women worldwide the hope that somehow, some way, he would rue the day he made you cry into a pint of Americone Dream every night for six weeks.
Amusingly, even this wee girl (a mere two years of age) gets it- as you can see in the clip below, little Makena knows mostly every word and belts it out with heart-wrenching enthusiasm. Payoff when she gets to the chorus.
