John Mayer Cancels Tour, Will Undergo Another Round Of Vocal Cord Surgery

John Mayer Neck Surgery

Singer John Mayer has cancelled his tour and will not perform or sing for an indefinite amount of time as the rocker has had a relapse of a granuloma  (moss of tissue) on his vocal cords.

On his personal blog Mayer wrote:

“This is bad news,” and “another surgery and a very long chemically-imposed period of silence…”

Mayer, 34 described the condition as follows:

“Granuloma forms and continues to snowball because it’s in a spot where the vocal cords hit together and there’s no way to really give it a chance to heal without a good stretch of time and some pretty intensive treatment.”

Mayer was about to begin a new tour on April 9 which would lead into the May 22 release of his album Born and Raised

During his time off Mayer plans to write and work on the non-vocal parts of his next album.
