Soon-to-be mom Jessica Simpson- who has been pregnant for roughly 13 months at this point- has been doing a lot of press in advance of the arrival of her first baby.

Simpson appeared on the cover of Elle, and inside the mag with fiance Eric Johnson. Among her revelations is that fact that baby Simpson made its appearance known on a day she and Johnson had planned some heavy partying, necessitating a change of plans and a shift away from her beloved Scotch.

Simpson explains that she took a pregnancy test because she felt “off,” and discovered that she and Johnson were going to be first-time parents- she says:

“We were going to [go] all-day drinking… ride our bikes, hang out. But I started feeling this overwhelming guilt. Why would I feel guilt at the idea of going out and having cocktails with my friends?”

The pop star turned designer says it was then the test revealed she was pregnant, and that she began to think differently:

“I’m a free-spirited girl, but giving up my scotch? My Macallan 18? That was hard for me! …Though now that doesn’t even sound good, being pregnant. You crave other things. A big thing of water sounds great!”

Simpson tells Elle that doctors estimate the baby will be as large as ten lbs., but that she is hoping for a reprieve in the delivery room.
