Woman Thought To Be Dead Climbs Out Of Coffin To Cook Dinner
There is dead and then, in the case of a Chinese grandmother, there is something called artificial death which is when by all outward appearances you are dead as a door nail but the body remains warm to the touch.
When 95-year-old grandmother Li Xiufeng was discovered motionless and not breathing in her bed by her neighbor Chen Qingwang he ran to get help but everyone just assumed that the woman had finally passed away in her sleep.
“No matter how hard I pushed her and called her name, she had no reactions. I felt something was wrong, so I tried her breath, and she has gone, but her body is still not cold.”
So as according to local custom the grandmother was laid to rest in a coffin in her home so that family and friends could come and pay their respects. When they finally went to take her to be buried they were shock to find that there was only an empty coffin waiting for them.
When they started searching for her body they were stunned to find her sitting on a stool by the fire making herself some supper.
She reportedly told villagers:
“I slept for a long time. After waking up, I felt so hungry, and wanted to cook something to eat. I pushed the lid for a long time to climb out.”
