0Iran’s Oscar Win Leads To Verbal Attack Against “Zionist” Israel
The Iranian government on Monday stood up for it’s lauded film industry, a rare stance for an industry that hard-liners in the country often call a bastion for dissidents and liberals.
Officials used A Separation’s Oscar win for Best Foreign picture to verbally attack Israel and it’s loss for Footnote. According to State-run TV the movie was able to “leave behind” a film from the “zionist region.”
The head of Iran’s Cinematic Agency then added that the Oscar win signaled the “beginning of the collapse” of Israeli influence that “beats the drum of war” in the United States.
While Iran is attacking Israel the movie has actually played well in Israel where more than 30,000 people have flocked to see it. According to reports Israeli citizens are interested in getting a glimpse into the “human side” of Iran. As one Israeli critic noted, “It’s very well acted, exceptionally well written and very moving.”
Does anyone else feel as if Iran is getting desperate in its attacks against Israel?
