1Calvin & Hobbes Watercolor Sells For $107,000
The creative genius of Bill Watterson shined through on Thursday when one of the artists watercolor’s sold for $107,550.
The work in question was one of the comic strip creators watercolor portrayals of his famous Calvin & Hobbes paintings which he finished in the late-’80s.
Watterson ended his comic strip in the mid-90’s and the watercolor was used in a 1989-1990 calendar however Watterson held onto the original work for part of his own Calvin & Hobbes collection.
It wasn’t until 2011 that Bill Watterson released his first public art in more than 15 years, that work was a contribution to Team Cul de Sac, a fundraising organization supporting the fight against Parkinson’s disease.
